The Chinese Organizing Committee, representing the relevant governmental agencies and scientific institutions, under the scientific sponsorship of the International Subcommission on Jurassic Stratigraphy (ISJS), cordially invite you to participate in the 8th International Congress on the Jurassic System to be held in Shehong of Suining, Sichuan, China from August 9-13, 2010.

This congress follows the highly successful 7th Jurassic Congress held in 2006 in Krakow, Poland, and will focus on a series of scientific sessions and symposia to discuss new research findings relating all the field of Jurassic studies, with emphasis upon the main convention theme “Marine and Non-Marine Jurassic”. This will be the first time the Jurassic congress hold its sessions in Asia.

The Congress is sponsored by the UNESCO-IUGS International Geoscience Program (IGCP), the International Subcommission on Jurassic Stratigraphy, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Land and Resources of PRC, and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government. The Congress will be co-organized by Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, CAS, Department of Land and Resources of Sichuan Province, the People’s Governments of Suining City and Shehong County of Sichuan Province.

This congress will mainly cover the following subjects: Jurassic lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, chronostratigraphy, magetostraigraphy, palaeontology, sedimentology, geochemistry, geophysics, coal and petroleum geology, isotope geology, event geology, palaeogeography and palaeoclimatology, mineral and energy resources as well as geoparks and museum education. In addition, the ISJS will have its general assembly and IGCP 506 will held its final business meeting during this congress.
